Where do you live and how does it influence your writing?

I live in Nazareth, PA. A small town on the East Coast. I am surrounded by nature and live in a quiet area. I believe in the silence I am able to tap into my creativity.

When did you first become passionate about poetry and what attracted you to it?

I have been in love with books since I was a little girl but I fell in love with poetry in high school. The ability to make words and emotions come alive on the page continues to put me in awe.

What inspires you to write?

Everything to me is inspiration. The pain, the love, the joy, the anger, the sadness it all is art waiting to come alive.

Do you publish your Poetry on other channels but Instagram?

Currently all my writing is published on my Instagram account.

Who is your favorite Instapoet and why?

Wow this question is tough. There are so many talented individuals online and I am constantly discovering someone new but I really enjoy Becca Lee. Her poems are always so positive and empowering.

Tell us a bit about your personal style.

Equal parts storytelling, inspiration, and self-love.

Can you tell us a little about your writing process? How do you come up with poems and how do you edit them?

I try to write every morning. The earlier the better. I find my creativity is at its best first thing in the morning. My poems come from mostly life experiences.  I do very little editing to my poems.

Do you support yourself through writing financially, or do you have a day job and what is it?

I have a career as a nurse which I love but would like to transition into writing more as full-time job.

How many hours a day do you spend writing and what helps you to get into the writing mood?

I write almost every morning for about 20-30 minutes. I will write longer on the weekends when I have more time in my schedule. That is my structured time but poems come to me at various times of the day and I just honor the creativity and write when it comes.

And what’s the best moment you’ve had with your poetry so far?

Completing my debut book Chasing Fireflies. I put my heart and soul into this book. It’s a journey of self-love, discovery, and evolution. I can’t wait to share it with world this fall.

How do you respond to writer’s block or not knowing what to write?

Just keep writing. I journal almost daily which really helps get the junk out so that my creative juices are flowing.

What are you working on next?

I just completed my book Chasing Fireflies which will be released this fall and I am working on my second book which I can’t wait to bring into the world early 2020.

Where would you like to see yourself in three years time.

Writing full time.

What is your strategy you to grow your audience?

Growing my audience is about continuing to speak my truth, remaining authentic and connecting with my audience.

What advice would you give young poets just starting out?

Keep writing daily. Continue to sharpen your craft. And never quit.

Do you think poetry has a greater purpose?

I think poetry is a form of connection with self, the reader, and the world in which we live. It’s a way to express thoughts and feelings that aren’t always easy to articulate.  It’s a form of raw vulnerability.  Through the art of words and emotions we are bringing people together.
